Lesson plan
Lesson Objectives:
– I understand the basic concepts related to the topic of sustainable development,
– I know how my choices can have a positive impact on reducing my carbon footprint.
Attitudes and values:

Tools and materials needed:
– interactive whiteboard or mobile phones, printed cards
Planned course of the lesson:
Introducing the topic and discussing the objectives of the lesson. (2 minutes)
Warm-up (10 minutes)
Young people find in the crossword puzzle concepts related to the subject of sustainable development: https://learningapps.org/display?v=pi0qfuwq523
In pairs, try to add as many expressions as possible.
Students share their knowledge in the class, try to define concepts.
Task 1 (5 minutes)
Pupils match the terms with the definitions The teacher asks them to read the task.
Task 2 (5 minutes)
The teacher gives basic information about the concept of sustainable development:
In 2015, the leaders of UN member countries signed the document “Agenda for Sustainable Development – 2030”, which is an action plan for changes and transformations of the world. The goal is to meet the needs of the present generation in a sustainable way, respecting the environment and taking into account the needs of future generations. As part of the declaration, the leaders pledged to take action to reduce poverty, ensure access to education, food and clean water, equal opportunities, support human rights, protect the environment, mitigate climate change and access to sustainable energy sources. Poland also signed this declaration.
Pupils hang up the Sustainable Development Goals board in the classroom.
Focused discussion (15 minutes)
The teacher reads the following statements, students decide to what extent they agree with them, standing under the appropriate boards hung in the classroom, justifying their choice.
- Sustainable development means meeting the needs of the present generation and ensuring that the needs of future generations can be met at the same time. (TRUE)
- Sustainable development focuses solely on protecting the environment. (FALSEHOOD)
- Sustainable development is a process of continuous improvement that requires cooperation between sectors of society and consideration of economic, social and environmental dimensions. (TRUE)
- Sustainability is a task that can be fully achieved within one generation. (FALSEHOOD)
- Sustainable development includes sustainable consumption and production, which aim to reduce the negative impact of human activities on the environment. (TRUE)
- Sustainable development implies that developed countries have a responsibility to help developing countries achieve sustainable development. (TRUE)

Eco Bingo Challenge – Overview (5 minutes)
The leader shows the proposal of the challenge entitled “Eco Bingo” and asks the participants for their opinion on individual commands, whether they are possible to implement,
will such actions have a positive impact on the Sustainable Development Goals? Young people express their opinion on this subject.
Summary (2 minutes)
The facilitator asks volunteers to share their thoughts on which of the discussed concepts are important to them.
Class evaluation
When young people leave the classroom, they write + or – on the board, evaluating how they liked the activity.
